Man slammed for fat-shaming girlfriend in restaurant then eating her food
A man is being slammed online, after he fat-shamed his girlfriend for ordering pasta in a restaurant, before eating her food and demanding she pay for it. No, seriously.
The man, called Alan, had been out for dinner with his girlfriend and their friends on New Year’s Eve, when he made a series of rude and embarrassing comments to his girlfriend, who has been trying to lose weight recently.
“At dinner, Alan ordered a mushroom cauliflower rice with sweet peas and I got something called the ‘crispy lemon chicken with creamy Parmesan spaghetti.’ It looked so amazing, and I decided to give myself a treat after eating healthy for a while,” she explained on Reddit’s AITA forum.
“Alan gave me a weird look when I ordered it, and said loudly to all my friends, ‘Woah, no more diet?’ which was kinda embarrassing.”
Around 20 minutes later, the food arrived at the table, and just as the woman went to tuck in to her delicious meal, her boyfriend started eating it right before her eyes. She told him, “hey, that’s my food,” prompting him to laugh and tell her to eat his instead.
“I argued that I didn’t order that, as I sadly hate cauliflower rice with a passion but he said that I didn’t need the extra calories. I would’ve grabbed back my food but I didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of everyone, so I angrily relented,” she continued.
“Later, when we were footing the bill, Alan asked me for $14 to cover my food, which was the cost of the spaghetti. I said that I wouldn’t pay because I didn’t get to eat it. He then asked for $10, which was the price of the cauliflower rice, but I still disagreed, because I didn’t order it. He got angry and said that I was acting like a golddigger was an a**hole.”
That evening, the woman dumped her boyfriend for being so rude to her, but instead of acknowledging her, he simply asked to Venmo the money for the meal.
“My friends think he shouldn’t have been rude to me, but that I should’ve paid for the cauliflower rice since I ate it. It’s petty, but he’s been b****ing about me to people,” she concluded, before asking whether she was wrong to refuse to pay.
“That behaviour is totally unacceptable and if he genuinely can’t see why not, you need to drop him. He shamed you about your food choices then took your food without your permission, then had a tantrum when you stood up to him? This guy is a clown and you deserve better,” one Reddit user commented.
Another added: “Love, you just dropped 150lbs over night. Screw that jerk. Be happy and give the middle finger to anyone who does stuff like that.”
